I accept all levels in the style of Classical, Jazz and Rock. I have taught beginner and advance students to a very high level in all styles.
What if I do not own a guitar yet?
I have many options of guitars that you can use if you do not own one yet. However, you will need to purchase a guitar not long after you start lessons if you really want to learn how to play. You can get a decent one for under $200 and I will gladly help you with your purchase regardless of what style of price range you are looking for.
What kind of guitar should I buy? This question depends on what style of music you want to learn. If you like folk music you should get a steel string guitar. If you like rock and blues you should buy and electric. If you need advise on what to buy please contact me .
How do I get to your studio?
I am on 31st street between 4th and 5th Avenues in Brooklyn. You can take the D, M, N and R lines to 36th Street or you can also take the B63 bus line to 31st.

- All lessons I cancel will be made up
- Same day cancellations by students will not be made up and will be charged in full.
I have a situation that requires me to travel a lot. How flexible are the lesson days and times?
I am also a touring musician. I go on about 4 tours a year which are each around 1 week long. I understand and will be flexible with your schedule within reason.
How old does my child need to be before he starts taking lessons?
You have seen child prodigies playing Mozart on the piano or violin by the age of 4. You do not see these on the guitar because it requires more physical strength and is actually a somewhat awkward instrument to play. 7 years old has seemed to be a good age to start playing guitar on a half size while you can start on a full-size around.
Am I too old to play guitar?
You are never too old to do anything, especially music! My oldest student yet to date started at 65 and he learned as fast as any of the 100 student or so I have had in my career. If you are older than 65, I would love to beat this personal record. My colleague taught a woman in her 50s cello to a reasonable level after never having played an instrument before.
What days and hours do you teach guitar?
I teach guitar starting at 9:00 AM-10:00 PM on weekdays and on weekends from 12:00 PM until 7:00PM. Please contact me for my current availability.
Do I Have the Necessary Talent to Learn to Play Guitar? I have not yet come across one student that does not have some sort of musical abilities. Everyone has their strengths; some people are better at reading notes, some at chords, solos or others at improvising or writing songs. Eventually, everyone has a barrier that they must get across to get to the next level. It is not how talented you are, but how diligent and determined.
How many guitar lessons will it take for me to learn how to play the guitar? The most significant factor is how much you practice. If you really desire to learn, you need to play every day. This question also depends on what kind of music you want to learn. You will sooner be able to play a Bob Dylan song than a Bach suite. It is not uncommon for students to take guitar lessons for at least a year until they feel like they are able to continue learning on their own.
